What’s more fun than counting down the days until Christmas? Sure, there’s an app for that (insert eye roll) but there’s just something about a good old fashioned chalkboard! Instead of spending too much money on a pre-made Christmas countdown from the store, make your own as custom as you want it!
Each day when you change the number on your countdown, you can choose something like a small chocolate or treat for everyone to enjoy together. Our kids love this added treat and we know yours will too!
What you will need:
- Chalkboard
- chalk
- chalk pen
- decorative ribbon (optional)
Directions:
- First step is choosing a chalkboard. Your local craft store is bound to have a variety for you to choose from.
- With your chalk paint write the words that won’t be changing every day. For example, “Christmas Countdown” or “_____ days until Christmas”. Doing this part in the chalk paint helps prevent any smudging when you’re changing the number each day and is also much easier to get good detailed lines.
- If you’re feeling up for it decorate your chalkboard with a festive ribbon and even draw a border around it with your chalk pen.
- Use the regular chalk to change the number each day!
