DIY Christmas Dice

There are so many fun things to do at Christmas time! Watch a Christmas movie, bake a Christmas treat, sing Christmas carols, make a gift for someone. So many options! We made this Christmas die a few years ago so Jack could roll it to see what fun thing we can do that day. The great thing about this is that you don’t have to do it every day like a countdown. You can do it whenever you or your kids want. Maybe as a treat when they had a great day at school, or maybe just because! Plus you can totally customize it to do things you’ll actually be willing to do. For example, don’t put “go ice skating” unless you’ll be willing to drop everything and go ice skating whenever you roll the die! We made ours to include things we could do simply and at any time.

What you’ll need:

  • 1 wooden cube (pick the size you want from your local craft store!)
  • paints
  • paint pen or fine tip permanent marker

Directions:

  1. First you’ll want to paint all sides of your cube. I recommend placing your cube on a piece of wax or parchment paper. Different paints dry at different speeds so just make sure your sides are dry before turning it over or moving onto the next step.
  2. With your paint pen or permanent marker write your options on each side of the cube. If you need some ideas, these are the options we put on ours:
  1. Watch a Christmas movie.
  2. Make a gift for someone.
  3. Sing a Christmas carol.
  4. Make Christmas cookies.
  5. Read a Christmas book.
  6. Make hot chocolate.

We keep our die on our mantel and roll it whenever we want to do something fun as a family. This could be a fun thing to do on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day when your family is over as well! Of course, this also makes a wonderful gift for other families you love!

Marry Christmas!
