DIY Shower Steamers

Cooler weather means hot chocolate and cuddles, but it can also mean stuffy noses. What’s better than breathing in eucalyptus and peppermint to help support your respiratory system and more importantly, help you breathe again! Most similar items you find at the store are loaded with synthetic fragrances that will end up causing you more harm than good.  Have no fear! Here is a super easy, toxin-free recipe for shower steamers to help you breathe again. You simply place one of these cute little discs on your shower floor and let the vapors work their magic! Place these in a cute jar with festive ribbon and you have a wonderful little gift!

What you’ll need:

  • 1cup baking soda
  • 1/3 cup water
  • Eucalyptus essential oil
  • Peppermint essential oil
  • silicone baking cups

Directions:

  1. Combine water and baking soda until it becomes a thick paste.

2. Pour them into your baking cups about 1/3 full.

3. Bake them at 350 for 20 minutes or until they have either fully or mostly dried. If they still have them moister you can either bake them a few minutes longer or leave them out to dry overnight.

4. Once they have dried, carefully removed them from the silicone baking cups and add 2-3 drops of each oil to each disc.

5. Place one disc on your shower floor and shower as usual, enjoying the vapor!

Store in an airtight container. Moisture is going to be the biggest enemy of these little guys! Since you will likely keep these in your bathroom be sure to keep the jar closed tightly always.
